Blanks are typically stocked by locksmiths for duplicating keys. Often the shape of the key bow will reference individual manufacturers.

The 'Do Not Duplicate' phrase on a key blank has no implication of legal penalty, unless the key blank is patented. Patented key blanks normally reference a patent number and are protected by patent laws from unauthorized duplication of the patented features.
